Recently, Capcom announced what appears to be the spiritual successor to the Marvel Vs. Capcom series: Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. For those of you who aren't hardcore anime buffs (including myself) Tatsunoko is the company that brought us such famous animes as Speed Racer, Macross, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. So far, only four characters have been announced: Ryu, Chun-Li (whose official TvC artwork I've already added to my galleries ^_^), Casshan, and Ken from Gatchaman.
Judging from the screenshots (which include one from the Bonne family's airship) it seems safe to say the Capcom side of this game will more than just 15 Street Fighter characters plus Morrigan, like Capcom Vs SNK was. We'll probably see other Capcom staples like Mega Man, Strider, Capt. Commando, Jill Valentine (or some other RE Character) and Dante from Devil May Cry. Of course, the biggest question is who will be on the Tatsunoko side? Shinji Ikari? I have a hard time imagining that little wiener beating up on Ryu (though I'd love to see Chun-Li beat his pansy ass hard with her lightning kick super).
Considering all the different licenses that are likely to be involved, I'll be amazed if this game makes it to the United States. However, it's sure to light up the import sales charts as people like myself who almost never import games are likely to bend over backwards to find and install converter kits to allow whatever console this comes to to play import games.
